Phil Hornshaw is a journalist and author who has covered technology, video games, and entertainment for more than 15 years. His bylines have appeared in Playboy.com, HuffPost, Play Magazine, CBS News, MSN, Complex, GameSpot, IGN, Polygon, Kotaku, Epic Games Store, Game Front, Digital Trends, Yahoo Entertainment, and TheWrap. He's also the co-author of So You Created a Wormhole: The Time Traveler's Guide to Time Travel and The Space Hero's Guide to Glory, a pair of non-fiction books that use humor and pop culture to explain the real-world concepts of science fiction. He has appeared on panels at San Diego Comic-Con International, LA Comic-Con, and Penny Arcade Expo.

In addition to working as a freelance journalist, Hornshaw also was an editor and senior writer at GameSpot, and editor and deputy editor at Game Front. Before returning to freelance in late 2023, he was a game assessment consultant at NetEase Games, analyzing games to provide competitor intelligence and market insights, helping developers find the fun in their designs, and offering insights on optimizing games for the US market.

Currently, Hornshaw's freelance work includes coverage of video games and entertainment, spanning reviews, opinion pieces, and in-depth reporting. He also offers services as a content editor, and as a consultant in the video games space, providing mock reviews and market and design insights.
